I have uploaded the calendar for next week. I have also updated the spelling lists to show the February spelling words.
Thank you to those who have sent in items for our "Cookies & Cupcakes" basket!!! All items need to be turned in by Monday, February 6. Next Wednesday will be the 100th day of school. We will spend the day doing activities that have the theme of 100. It will be a fun day! I can't believe it is already been 100 days!!! I hope you all have a great weekend!! I have uploaded the calendar for next week to the website. I have also added the time for our music program on March 9. Our program will begin at 7:30.
Today, your child brought home several important notes. The first one is from our counselor, Mrs. Welsh. Next week we will be participating in "The Great Kindness Challenge." As part of the activities for the week, students are encouraged to wear a certain color each day to go along with the character traits. The colors are: Monday - yellow Tuesday - purple Wednesday - green Thursday - orange Friday - red There were 2 light blue notes today regarding the PTC. The small one is about a PTC meeting coming up next week. The PTC would love to have more parents involved. The second one is about our class basket for the carnival. Our basket theme is "Cookies & Cupcakes." Students are encouraged to bring an item for our basket which will be put together and auctioned off at the PTC Carnival on February 11. Some ideas for items are: cookie mixes, cupcake wrappers, cake mixes, frosting, sprinkles, cookie cutters, cookie sheets, measuring cups/spoons, mixing bowls, chocolate chips/ingredients, recipes and recipe books, etc. Thank you in advance for supporting our class and the PTC Carnival. As we are in the second semester of first grade, we are working on becoming second graders. Please help your child practice tying their shoes. We are spending a lot of time getting everyone's shoes tied before going to recess, going up/down the stairs, and going to PE. All help with this at home would be greatly appreciated. I hope you all have a relaxing and fun weekend!! I have uploaded the calendar for next week to the website. Please notice that beginning next week, we will have 10 new spelling words each week. We will add review words in the spelling sentence(s) only.
PTC is looking for volunteers to help with the PTC Carnival on February 11. PTC does sooooo many things for TES. The kids are LOVING the new playground equipment. If you could help for an hour or two, it would be greatly appreciated. To sign up, go to this link: http://signup.com/go/jArBqT Be looking for the new sight word flashcards to be coming home this week. I have "quizzed" everyone now and made them a ring of words for practice at school. Please practice these words at home as well. Stay safe this weekend!!! Please be watching for your child's homework bags each evening. We will not have math homework next Tuesday and Wednesday as we will be doing some review activities while I am doing individual reading assesment. As always, please read with your child each night. It helps so much with their reading progress.
I have added some dates to the "Upcoming Dates" page and uploaded the calendar for next week. I have also updated the sight word lists on the site. I will send home the new flashcards for practicing soon. The kids have been making a lot of triips to get some vaseline for their chapped lips. Feel free to have your child bring a chapstick in their backpack so it is available for them. I am sure the kids have told you about the new playground equipmet that was installed this week. We can start playing on it next week!! THANK YOU PTC!!!! I hope you have a great weekend!! |
