This is my 22st year in first grade. I love teaching first grade. Before coming to TES, I worked for several years in special education as a paraprofessional and substitute teacher. I also spent 10 years as a child care provider while my children were small.
I earned my B.S. in Elementary Education from Saint Mary College in 1997 and my MAT from the University of Saint Mary in 2005. During the 2012-2013 school year, I had the opportunity to take Reading Recovery Teacher training classes through Emporia State University.
I have been married for 36 years and have two children. Both of my children attended Tonganoxie Public Schools K-12. My son, Chuck, is married and is a graduate of Midwestern Baptist Theological College & Seminary. He is an Associate Pastor of Student Ministry and coaches wrestling at Shawnee Mission West. My daughter, Amie graduated from the University of Saint Mary. She is an 8th grade English teacher at Clark Middle School. She also coaches middle school cross country and high school softball. I have one granddaughter.
In addition to teaching first grade, I am also a member of the TES Building Leadership Team, the district Teaching and Learning Committee, and serve on the social studies curriculum committee.
My plan time is 2:15 - 3:05. My phone number at school is: 913-416-1480 Ext. 4081. My email address is: [email protected].
